More and more people are traveling with dogs as airlines become more accessible, and nearby resorts in Europe offer more open spaces for pets. This process is also fostered by the fact that European Union has general rules and regulations for owning a dog which makes traveling between member countries unquestionably easy.
Mallorca with its hidden nature spots is great for traveling with dogs, especially as you can access the island on a ferry without worrying for your pet conditions on the plane.
In this post we decided to describe places and regions in Mallorca which we believe are the best for pets.
In this case it is necessary to separate the high and the low seasons as most restrictions take place only during high season. Low season is the best time to come to Mallorca if you take care about your little friend: it is less hot, more windy, less people which can disturb your pet (especially if it is young and very active). But needless to say it is high season when most people come to Mallorca! That is why as pet friendly hotel we took some time to research the best calas in Mallorca which you can enjoy with your pet.
Calastory is this time for happy paws, not just for happy people...;-)
Shall we begin?:)
First of all, take a look at the map of Mallorca. The best places with pets are the most remote ones. For Palma, the walkable beach promenade and shopping centers of Porto Pi and Fan are the best. City centre can be disturbing and annoying. Most calas around Palma which we will be talking about in next Calastory are usually crowded even off season as locals like them very much. Serra de Tramuntana mountains can be difficult to climb as some trails require good sport and health condition even of the people, not talking about sweating poor animals. So we advise looking at other side of the map: north and east of Mallorca.
If you go to Pollensa, calas around the Peninsula of Formentor or Alcudia are very pet friendly. You can access them with a car and usually there are not many people there. For instance, take a look at small and remote Cala Platjola. The car parking is right behind the beach. The beach is sandy (we don't want your dog to hurt its paws with pebbles, so we focus only on sandy calas), very quiet, and the water is not too deep for it to be able to run with you in the water.

Around Alcudia peninsula, it is Punta de Manresa which is a nice spot for dogs as it is walkable for about a kilometre, and it finishes with a sandy little beach of Sant Joan. Great little calas for happy paws!:) You can also park on the road beside the beach, it is usually not full with cars as these places are quite remote. After this cala, if you walk a little more, you can stop by the Cala Sant Pere. This beach is already packed with some people, but it still welcomes dogs. You can use the umbrellas and sunbeds as well as public toilets and some refreshment kiosks.

Far to the south, the area around Cala Millor and our hotel Amena Mar which is located in S'Illot is also very pet friendly, there is a long promenade where you can walk. But speaking about calas we find that the best place with a dog any time of the year in Mallorca is the Natural Park of Mondrago with its picturesque calas and friendly picnic places in the forest which surrounds the calas with thick layer of pine trees and juniper bushes.

You can go to Mondrago for the whole day, leave your car at the parking surrounded by almond trees and then walk around 400-500 meters through a trail in the forest to reach the first beach of Mondrago park - Cala S'Amarador. From there you can also walk to Cala Mondrago or just rest peacefully in the forest. Your little friend will be happy with the nature around and will not see a lot of people who can be disturbing. We believe that these two calas are the best for high season vacation with a pet. If you find more, please let us know so we can expand this post and provide more information for pet owners. Normally even south of Mallorca in some remote places is very pet friendly. But pets like nature, so we though they would enjoy these calas the most.
