Electric Vehicle Adventures

In continuation with the information on electric car rental in Mallorca, we decided to describe our top 2 favorite half-day trips with your electric car around our friendly Amena Mar Hotel. All of the routes are for both beginner and advanced drivers, nothing peculiar to take note of. But very beautiful and charming in terms of local culture discovery and the touch of local food and tradition.

Electric Car Route No. 1: Cala Story of the Arta peninsula

You start from Amena Mar hotel and drive to Cala Mesquida beach. Don't drive to beach parking, rather take the parking outside the Viva hotel as it is usually less crowded. The route will take you along the Costa dels Pins hills and bring you through the small tunnel to the Capdepera village, and then head to the beach. Cala Mesquida is an amazing beach, relax on the sun, get sunburnt a little but, indulge in the turqiose waters of the sea and then explore the dunes up to the mountains. When you are tired, sit on your electric car and head to another Cala which is Cala Ratjada. You can park your car in the center and just walk around the coastline with those nicely designed bars, cafes and restaurants. Get some lunch or dinner if you are hungry, and then go get some after-lunch walk to the Cala Gat. Come back, sit on your electric vehicle and drive to the Far de Capdepera (Lighthouse at the end of Cala Ratjada bay). You can park there and just for 5 minutes walk around see the cliffs, the sea, the pine trees and get some pictures with the lighthouse itself. You are not allowed to get in as it is a working object.

After this spot go down to Cala Agulla beach and walk around there in the forest among pine trees and along the beach as well. Be careful as this is the place where many pine caterpillars can be found. They can be toxic. If you want, you can swim in the sea and then go back with your car to the hotel and relax on your bed thinking of the beauty of northern Arta peninsula. Or you can drive from there to Capdepera and still walk around the castle there. The view is absolutely worth it from the top.

You can easily find Melib charging spots in Cala Mesquida, Cala Ratjada center and Capdepera.

Electric Car Route No. 2: Cala Story of the Santanyi

The shores around Santanyi fight for their populiarity among travelers. They are so beautiful and recognized that you will be amazed how familiar they look to you when you explore them. Take your electric car and go to Santanyi region. First, you will be driving south from Porto Cristo along a very beautiful foresty road with lots of shade. Then you will pass by Porto Colom and get a bit further from the sea. The villages will start appearing. You can stop in any of them for just a cup of coffee. All of them have Melib charging stations if you need them. After you pass by all of them, you will come to Santanyi and hear to Cala Figuera. This is just an amazing spot in itself and deserves special attention. Park your car in the center, it also can be charged there. And go to the port which is the only walkable port with boat houses facing water catering for tourists taking multiple door pictures there. Great 30 minute walk will take you to the end of the road and back. You can stop there for lunch or coffee, too.

Then head to Cala Llombards for a swim. Easily accessible, this cala has a parking right in front of the beach. And this makes it rather popular among tourists. After spending time there, head to the less popular spot Calo del Moro which is looking exactly the same but with more difficult access. As you park your car you will have to walk at least 10 minutes to reach the cala. After spending time there take the route further and explore another cala nearby S'Almonia. Amazing place for sunset time.

As you get tired to see these never ending calas, head back to your car and drive back to Amena Mar hotel to relax and recharge yourself... and your car, too :)
