Tips for your great trip to Torrent de Pareis
First of all, although it is a beach destination, Sa Calobra is definitely not a typical cala for relaxing in the sun. So you can leave your beach book and iPods at home. Even if you manage to swim there, it will be more of a gym training. The waves in Torrent de Pareis are present almost all the time. Those very exceptional days when the sea is calm there happen few times a year. So a good advice is to take with you a lot of water, open your cabrio, wear a good head cover (if in cabrio) and plenty of memory space for the road shots.
Sometimes I think, as people say, the road is more important than the destination. Partially this is the case, too. As you turn from the road Ma-10 near the Orange Juice Man cafe, one of the most beautiful roads in the world stretches in front of you. Twelve kilometers of turns, ups and downs, crossings and views... Be ready to stop every 10 meters to take another shot.
The road is so popular that almost every car company shots ads here.
The best car to use is something lightweight (heavy cars are way more difficult to manipulate on road going up). To maximize your road experience, it should also be a simple car with smaller engine, but easy to manage: sport cars are useless when you need to turn 180 degrees every 50 meters.
When you reach Sa Calobra, bear in mind that the only cars which can enter the coastline are the cars of the residents. For all other cars, there is a big parking nearby. One of the reasons we advice to go there better not in July or August and better not too late during the day is that the parking may be full. Then you need to walk a little bit down to reach the coast with many bars and self-service restaurants. You turn right, and a few hundred meters walk down the beautiful cave overlooking the sea will bring you to your destination - Torrent de Pareis.
When guests ask me, what it is, it is hard to explain in few words. But basically it is a unique natural spot which happened due to the formation of the entry to the sea between two steep rocks from the river which flows very far inside the island. The river forms a valley in the mountains which is rather beautiful, too. I never did it, but I heard that many people do hiking along the valley and they say it is totally worth it! The area is rather wide, there are pebbles there, no sand, and the crossing itself is covered with land. Many people jump from the rocks to the sea. Others just take a moment and sit for some time looking at this natural wonder.
Torrent de Pareis is worthy destination in Mallorca, very unique and quite full of surprises.
I am sure that although I tried to guide you through these spots and give you advice, you will still encounter something you could not expect to see - but in a good way, of course :)
Sa Calobra time in Mallorca is A.L.W.A.Y.S.
